Columbus Stainless will sponsor the winning sculptor’s installation at
Middelburg Mall.

The winning sculptor in Middelburg Mall’s “My Middelburg, My Region” art
competition will win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Columbus Stainless
will supply the steel to recreate the winning piece into a sculpture
installation on permanent display at Middelburg Mall.

This competition is open to everyone, no matter your age or artistic
experience. Your art can come in any shape, size or colour. Artists can
create across categories including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture
and anything goes.

The deadline for entries is approaching fast, so get creating and submit
your entries at Middelburg Mall by 17 July 2012.

There are great prizes for all category winners, and all artwork will be
displayed at Middelburg Mall for everyone to enjoy.

But the competition’s stand-out prize is reserved for the winner of the
sculpture category – a career-boosting breakthrough into commercial art,
with the backing of Columbus Stainless.

Melusi Mbuyane of Columbus Stainless explains stainless steel has been
produced in Middelburg since 1966. It has been integral to the growth and
development of the region and the country as a whole.

Columbus Stainless actively supports local small, medium and micro
enterprises (SMMEs) in the stainless steel fabrication industry through the
Mpumalanga Stainless Initiative (MSI) and its incubation programme.

“Middelburg is the ‘Home of Stainless Steel’. It is thus only fitting that
Columbus Stainless co-sponsor the Stainless Steel Sculpture category for
Middelburg Mall’s art competition,” says Mbuyane.

Columbus Stainless will provide the stainless steel for the sculpture, to be
erected at Middelburg Mall, and take part in the competition judging.

The judging panel will also include a representative from Middelburg Mall
and accomplished SA artist Rupert Hanley, whose art featuring Nguni cows is
on display in the mall.
